An ever growing team from different backgrounds, with a variety of experiences, and a common goal.
The Sharp Impressions Project has always been geared towards helping people by "making a sharp impression". Whether through an act of kindness, supporting others, or sharing our stories.
We are focused on helping to raise mental health awareness and advocate suicide prevention. We have been active in community events and social media to shatter the stigma through mental health education.
Whether participating in local events or holding one of our own, we intend to raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.
One of our goals is to shatter the stigma of mental illness by providing information and resources to help spread knowledge on the topic.
Part of our community education is geared towards helping to turn personal struggles into a positive motivation for a better life and passing that on.
Although the idea to help those suffering from depression existed since late 2003, The Sharp Impressions Project was launched on July 3, 2013 with the mission to help teens who self harm and had suicidal thoughts/tendencies. Months later, The Si Project shifted focus and added helping those with mental health issues to its mission. It was long known how music affects individuals emotionally and relates lyrics to their personal stories. By 2015 a campaign to show how music connects everyone in the world and reassures no one is truly alone was started. After 2016, The Si Project went on hiatus which would last until late 2018. In 2019 they found a home within the open mic community, at Ohmies: Write or Die. It was here where The Sharp Impressions Project would evolve again and make mental health education its mission, with the hope that sharing their story would allow others to open up and share theirs. This solidified the mission statement: "You are not alone."
